The CCHA No. 9 ranked Western Michigan University Broncos will be heading to Fairbanks Alaska to take on the No. 2 CCHA ranked Nanooks this weekend at the Carlson Center Arena.

This game has all the ingredients of a classic CCHA match-up. In the 2011-2012 season the WMU Broncos went 2-2 during the last match up were WMU won the second game in a close shootout win. Chase Balisy and Derek Roehl were the two players on WMU that scored goals to win the tie breaker.

WMU’s goalie has had some experience in this familiar situation before facing the Nanooks last year in one of the weekend series games the 2011-2012 season. Frank Slubowski stopped a total of 32 shoots total and missed one save during the shootout which ended in a victory for WMU.

Some key elements for the Broncos is the amount of experience the team has as a whole with players like Dan DeKeyser, Dane Walters, and Shane Berschbach to name a few who are quite in tune as to what to expect from the Nanooks.

On the Nanooks side a thought that could come up is if the inexperienced goalies can stand a chance on the attack on offense against the Broncos?

Nanook goaltender Keeney Garners could very well shock the Broncos being named Central Collegiate Hockey Association Goaltender of the week on Monday 12, 2012.in which he turned aside 33 shots on last Friday’s against Ohio State in the Nanooks 1-1 tie and followed it up with a 32 save performance on last Saturday.

The puck drops at 11:35p.m. on Nov 16, 2012 in Fairbanks Alaska in a two game CCHA weekend series match-up.
