Downtown Kalamazoo jumped alive during Art Hop on Saturday Oct. 4th. Young and old alike packed the streets and businesses to catch a glimpse of work by local artists. The slow moving crowd drifted from the Kalamazoo Valley Museum, to the Kalamazoo Mall, and throughout different downtown businesses.

A few small places were welcoming, but most companies seemed overwhelmed by the sheer number of people. Kalamazoo Valley Museum was one of the only places able to accommodate the large number of people.

It was a great opportunity for artists to have their work viewed by the public and many people seemed to have enjoyed themselves.

“I look forward to Art Hop all month long. It is a great place for my friends and I to meet,” Jessica Wheeler, resident of Kalamazoo, said.

The next art hop will spring into Kalamazoo on Friday Nov. 1 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

    • Great picture! You really captured and brought forth the fact that a lot of people are attending, so the organizers need to realize that all of the attendees need to be accomodated. Anyone with a business sense can see that there is profit to be made at these events, if you act with this information at hand. Thank you for covering the Art Hop. I look forward to the next one, which you stated, will be November 1st.
